pre-teen program
(ages 8-12)
Building technique. Growing confidence.
The Intermediate Program is designed for dancers ages 8–12 who are ready to continue building on the foundations developed in our Junior Program—or for pre-teen dancers just beginning their dance journey.
At Studio C, every dancer receives quality instruction in a welcoming and encouraging environment where technical growth and personal confidence go hand in hand. Our experienced instructors challenge students to continue developing flexibility, strength, musicality, coordination, and performance skills while helping every dancer discover the joy of continued progress.
Classes begin in September and continue through May, culminating in our Annual Year-End Recital at Aultsville Theatre. Recreational dancers receive a custom-made, professionally fitted costume, which is included in tuition.

Jazz R1
Jazz is an energetic and ever-evolving dance style performed to today's music. Dancers develop flexibility, coordination, strength, musicality, and performance quality while learning jumps, kicks, turns, combinations, and choreography. Studio C follows the CDTA graded syllabus, with dancers placed according to both age and ability to encourage long-term success.
Tap R1
Tap teaches dancers to create rhythm and music through movement. Students develop timing, coordination, musicality, and precision while learning traditional tap technique, progressions, and combinations. Classes are energetic, engaging, and designed to help dancers build both confidence and strong technical foundations.

Lyrical R1
Lyrical combines the technical foundations of Ballet and Jazz while encouraging dancers to interpret music through movement. Students learn how expression, musicality, and storytelling work together to create meaningful performances while continuing to build flexibility, balance, and control.
Ballet
Our Ballet program at this age continues developing the strength, flexibility, alignment, and technical foundations established in Ballet 1 through traditional Classical Ballet training.
Ballet 2 and Ballet 3 focus on strengthening posture, turnout, flexibility, musicality, and movement quality through barre work, centre practice, and progressive Classical Ballet exercises.

Acro
Our Acro program builds on the foundations developed in the younger years, with an increased focus on strength, flexibility, technique, the development of more challenging acrobatic skills, and incorporating tricks into dance movements and choreography. Acro is a great complement to other dance styles, helping dancers develop the strength, flexibility, balance, body awareness, and confidence that can support their training in jazz, lyrical, ballet, and other disciplines.
Dancers in this age group will typically begin in Junior 1, with placement based on their age, experience, and existing skills. Progression to Junior 2 and Junior 3 is skill-based, allowing dancers to move forward when they have developed the strength, flexibility, technique, and control needed for the next level. Our goal is to provide age-appropriate challenges while ensuring that dancers continue to build strong foundations and learn new skills safely and confidently.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre combines dance, acting, character development, and performance. Dancers explore choreography inspired by stage and film musicals while developing Jazz technique, stage presence, confidence, and expressive performance skills. No previous dance experience is required, making Musical Theatre an excellent choice for both experienced dancers and beginners.
